Originally from South Yorkshire, I came to Bristol University in 1985 and have stayed in Bristol ever since!
After six years in mainly local hospital posts I started my GP training; I became a partner at Western College in 1997. I enjoy clinical medicine and have broad clinical interests. I am the practice clinical lead on asthma, COPD and diabetes and liaise closely with our local dementia wellbeing services team.
I am a GP trainer and have supervised the postgraduate GP training of several colleagues over the years. This is tremendously rewarding-supporting ongoing professional and personal development in what I like to think is a happy and protected environment.
I also lead on “Medicines Management” at Western College. This involves liaising with our CCG (Health Authority) pharmacist on a variety of prescribing projects that are rolled out each year across Bristol. These projects focus on safe, evidence-based and cost-effective prescribing.
Outside of Western College, I am very much a family man though my two children are not so little anymore. I am still writing that first novel.
